Why NORMCORE Spring-loaded Tamper?
Level Tamping - The ingenious design of leveling plate ensures your tamping level every time by resting on top of the filter basket as you press down on ground coffee.
Consistent Pressure - The amount of pressure you apply is simply controlled by a pre-calibrated spring inside the tamper itself. Moreover, it comes with 3 interchangeable springs to suit your preference.
Depth - Press and turn clockwise at the same time when tamping to create the best level result.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What sizes are available for the Normcore Spring Loaded Tamper V4?
- The V4 tamper is available in 10 sizes: 58.5mm, 58mm, 57.5mm, 53.3mm (fits Breville/Sage), 51.5mm (fits La Pavoni), 49.7mm (fits ROK), 45.5mm (fits Flair), 49mm, 51mm, and 57mm. Select your portafilter basket diameter to find the right fit.
- How do the interchangeable springs work in the Normcore V4 tamper?
- The V4 includes three springs rated at 15lb, 25lb, and 30lb of pressure. The spring compresses as you tamp, releasing a consistent, pre-calibrated force every time — eliminating the variable of hand pressure. The 25lb spring comes pre-installed and suits most home baristas. Swap to 30lb for a firmer tamp or 15lb for a lighter touch.
- What is the difference between the V3 and V4 Normcore tamper?
- The V4 redesigned the central shaft so the interchangeable springs apply pressure directly through the shaft to the tamper base, improving accuracy. The leveling plate was also refined for better stability on the basket rim. The V4 supports a wider range of sizes and includes all three springs in the box.
- Is a spring-loaded tamper better than a regular tamper?
- For consistency, yes. A spring-loaded tamper eliminates shot-to-shot variation caused by inconsistent hand pressure. Every puck is tamped at the same force, which is especially valuable for home baristas building a repeatable workflow. Professional baristas also use them to speed up service with consistent results.
- How do I clean the Normcore Spring Loaded Tamper V4?
- Wipe the tamper base and body with a damp cloth after use. Do not place in a dishwasher, do not use strong detergents, and avoid soaking in water — moisture can damage the spring mechanism over time. For deep cleaning, disassemble by unscrewing the base and rinse each part individually.
